Dr. Lapovsky has a complete understanding of what the CFO position entails, understands the needs of all relevant constituencies and conducts all searches herself. She is uniquely qualified, with experience in both the public and private sectors of higher education, having served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Goucher College and as Director of Finance and Facilities for the Maryland Higher Education Commission. The co-editor of The Roles and Responsibilities of Chief Financial Officers published by Jossey Bass and co-author of The 2010 Profile of Chief Finance Officers published by NACUBO, she serves on many non-profit boards where she chairs the finance and audit committees.
These experiences give her the knowledge to understand the skills and attributes required of an excellent CFO. She can quickly discern whether a candidate has the requisite skill set, temperament and political and negotiating skills required for the position and is easily able to understand the specific needs of an institution and match them with the appropriate candidates.
